What Is Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-Factor Authentication provides a powerful extra layer of security between the outside world and your sensitive company data. A particularly powerful tool if you have a large mobile workforce needing to connect to your network from outside.
It is a mobile-based solution that uses two-factor, one-time password (2FA OTP) or app push notifications to provide an additional layer of securoty for accessing the company’s data. The advantage of one-time passwords and push notifications are they are randomly generated and can’t be predicted or reused.
benefits of Multi Factor Auth
Multi-factor authentication (MFA), is an authentication method which requires two independent pieces of information to verify a user’s identity and is much stronger than using a traditional password or PIN, effectively reducing the risk of data breaches caused by weak or leaked passwords.
One of the most common ways your company data is breached is through weak or stolen passwords. Not only do employees use the same password across numerous websites, they sometimes share their passwords with co-workers.
Having 2FA in place prevents attackers accessing your systems simply by guessing a weak or compromised password as a would be attacker would have to steal your phone too
99.9% of compromised accounts lack Multi-Facotr Authentication (MFA) protection
